Catarina Portas

Responsible for launching the Uma Casa Portuguesa brand in 2004, which was replaced in 2007 by the A Vida Portuguesa brand. This project, a benchmark in the valorisation of antique Portuguese products with a strong personality, has been recognised in awards such as Store of the Year 2013, from Time Out magazine, or Best Shop in 2018, from the international trade website Shopkeepers. The brand now has four physical shops and one online shop, one of which was established in Porto between 2016 and 2020.

She was involved in the launch of the Lisbon City Council’s “Shops with History” programme in 2015 and is still a member of its Advisory Board.

A journalist by training, she has worked extensively in the areas of society and culture in various media. In 2009, Monocle magazine included her in its annual list of 20 world figures who “deserve a bigger stage”.

Catarina Portas brings her experience as a journalist and entrepreneur to moderate the panel on good practices at this first edition of the Porto Retail Forum.
