Lucas e Gabriel

Lucas e Gabriel

Gabriel was born 10 years ago and spent his early days between home and his parents’ shop, Almaviva in Porto. At Padaria Ribeiro they offered him biscuits while he was still on his mum’s lap, and the ladies at Mundo dos Tecidos chatted to him when they went to buy patchwork. When it comes to books, Teresa from Livraria Salta Folhinhas always knows what he likes.

Lucas was born seven years ago, the year the family opened their second shop, Almaviva Family Concept. He likes cats, melon from Mr Miguel’s Grocery and chocolates from Chocolataria Equador, not necessarily in that order. When he goes out walking in the city centre, he likes to take his stuffed kitten that Gabriel picked out for him at the Paris Bazaar.

Rita Brandão is Gabriel and Lucas’ mum. Designer, she coordinates the art department at the OSMOPE school. She develops co-creative projects with children, such as the “Cota 1,20” project, awarded at the “Architecture into Education awards 2023”. She founded Almaviva, a leading design shop. She is a PhD student at FBAUP/ID+, exploring the contributions of design to cultural mediation in early childhood.
